Why we do not expect any impact

cloudscale.ch is a provider of infrastructure as a service (IaaS) in a self-service model, i.e. our customers launch, scale, extend and delete virtual servers and use services at their own discretion, while we provide the necessary infrastructure. Given the nature of our services, physical presence is thereby only necessary in very few cases.

We consider our office location – not least for reasons of "business continuity" – merely as a kind of Internet Cafe, which we can do without in an emergency situation. Our employees have therefore been able to stay at home and work from their home offices more often in recent days.

Last but not least, thanks to redundancy, our entire infrastructure is designed to ensure that your services are always available. There is also sufficient spare capacity available for further growth of customer demand. This way, we avoid hectic rush and can carefully plan any necessary work.

How we want to play our part in the fight

The top priority with regard to SARS-CoV-2 is currently to delay its spread and thus ease the burden on the health care system worldwide. For this reason, we have introduced the following rules, effective immediately:

1. All our employees work from their home offices wherever possible. As already mentioned, the nature of our service does not require us to work at the office.
2. We ask our employees and customers to refrain from in-person meetings and to hold meetings online or over the phone instead.
3. Our employees are encouraged to stay at home whenever possible and to follow the Self-Quarantine Manifesto at staythefuckhome.com.
